PermaCOST is an open and inclusive COST Action that actively encourages participation from researchers, practitioners and stakeholders involved in permafrost monitoring and related fields. By fostering broad engagement across disciplines, sectors and career stages, the Action aims to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange within the European permafrost community.
Participation in PermaCOST offers opportunities to contribute to the development of coordinated and standardised monitoring practices, to engage in Working Group activities, and to exchange expertise with a diverse network of experts across Europe and beyond. The Action places particular emphasis on inclusivity, interdisciplinary dialogue and the involvement of early career researchers.
Through meetings, workshops, training activities and collaborative outputs, PermaCOST provides a platform for participants to share experience, discuss challenges and contribute to shaping the future of permafrost monitoring. Stakeholders from operational monitoring networks, public authorities and applied research are also encouraged to engage with the Action.
By welcoming new participants throughout its lifetime, PermaCOST seeks to build a strong, connected and sustainable network that supports robust permafrost observations and improves understanding of permafrost response to climate change at national, regional and European scales.
